Buying Wrap Files vs. Full Service — Which One Fits You

There are two entirely different customers for a vehicle wrap and they want opposite things.

One already owns a printer, a laminator, and an installer who's been doing this for fifteen years. That person needs artwork, correctly panelized, and nothing else. Every hour a design shop spends "managing" their project is an hour they're paying for twice.

The other runs a plumbing company. They want the van to look expensive and they want to be told when to drop it off.

Most wrap shops only sell to the second customer, because that's where the margin is. We sell to both, and this is how to tell which one you are.

Option 1 — buy the files

WrapPort is our design studio. You pick your actual vehicle, design on an accurate 3D model of that vehicle, spin it, check every angle, and when you're happy you buy the print-ready files.

The price is $3.25 per square foot of media, with a $299 floor and a $1,499 ceiling. In practice a half-wrap on an SUV lands near $465 and a full SUV runs about $894. A box truck — the vehicle that eats the most vinyl — hits the cap and stops there.

For context, custom wrap design sold as a standalone service typically runs $300 to $900 a job in this market. The per-foot model means a small job costs like a small job instead of paying an agency minimum for a pair of door decals.

What's in the download: production-ready panels sized to your vehicle, cut paths, panelized drops laid out for the media width, and an install spec. Not a flattened JPG of a pretty rendering. Files your printer can RIP and your installer can read without calling you to ask what the overlap allowance is.

The part people miss: a paid release carries a 90-day print credit. If you buy files and then decide to have us print that same design within 90 days, the release fee comes off the print invoice. So the download only really costs you money if the design leaves for someone else's printer — which is exactly the situation it's priced for.

Who this is for

The Unlimited plan

If you're designing wraps regularly — a shop turning several jobs a month — per-file pricing stops making sense. WrapPort Unlimited is $149/month, or $1,490/year with two months free. Design as many vehicles as you want, release as many file sets as you want.

The math is simple: if you're releasing more than one mid-size wrap a month, the subscription is already cheaper. If you release two or three, it isn't close.

Option 2 — full service

You tell us about the vehicle and the business. We design it on the 3D model, you approve the proof from your couch, we print on Colorado-grade cast vinyl, and we coordinate installation with a trusted installer. You get a written estimate before artwork starts and you e-sign it online.

Full wraps in the Colorado Springs market run roughly $3,000 to $4,500 on a truck, SUV, or crossover, with design, print, and professional installation included — we break the ranges down by vehicle type in our wrap cost guide.

Who this is for

The honest comparison

Cost. Files are dramatically cheaper — hundreds instead of thousands. But files are one input. You still pay for media, ink, lamination, and install labor. If you're pricing files against a full-service quote, you're comparing a part to a whole.

Control. Files win. You choose the material, you choose the installer, you schedule around your own shop's calendar.

Risk. Full service wins. Once files leave, print quality, color management, and install skill are somebody else's job. A perfect layout printed on the wrong film still fails in a Colorado summer, and the artwork won't be what failed.

Speed. Depends entirely on your queue. A busy shop with files in hand beats any outside vendor. A business with no shop relationship will get a vehicle back faster by handing over the whole job.

The rule of thumb

If you can answer "who's printing this, on what film, and who's installing it" without looking anything up — buy the files. You have the infrastructure and you're paying for the one thing you're missing.

If any part of that question makes you want to close the tab, buy the outcome. That's not a knock. Nobody expects a plumber to spec cast vinyl, and the wrap is the biggest sign your business will ever own.

What working with us looks like

Either road starts the same way. Tell us about the vehicle on the free assessment — two minutes, no phone tag — and we'll come back with a real recommendation and a written estimate. If files are the right call, we'll say so, even though it's the smaller invoice. Or open WrapPort and start designing on your actual vehicle model right now; you only pay when you release the files.

Wrap file pricing above is our current published rate as of August 2026: $3.25 per square foot, $299 minimum, $1,499 maximum, with a 90-day print credit. Installation ranges reflect the Colorado Springs market and quality cast-vinyl work.
